# WP.org Listing Conversion Plan

## Keyword Research

### Methodology

- **Google SERPs:** Serper API for organic results, ad presence, People Also Ask, related searches
- **WP.org search:** API for top 10 results per keyword, ClearPost's current position, competitor installs/reviews
- **Volume proxies:** No direct WP.org search volume data exists. Google search volume is a proxy (people who Google these terms often end up on WP.org). WP.org result count and competition density are secondary signals.

### Why these 12 keywords will drive high-converting traffic

**The searcher IS the customer.** Someone searching "auto blogging" or "ai blog writer" on WP.org has already decided they want a WordPress plugin that generates content. They're comparing options. They're about to install one.

**Conversion math:**
- WP.org organic = 73-81% of all ClearPost trials
- Trial-to-paid conversion (plugin actually installed): 19%
- Each WP.org install that leads to a trial is worth ~$19 in expected revenue ($99/mo x 19%)
- Listicle placements prove WP.org traffic converts: 3-4x download spikes per placement

**Why these terms specifically:**
- **"auto blogging" / "autoblogger" / "automated blogging"** = person wants content WITHOUT writing. Zero intent mismatch with ClearPost.
- **"content autopilot" / "blog autopilot" / "seo autopilot"** = person wants hands-off operation. ClearPost's core value prop.
- **"ai blog writer" / "ai content writer"** = broader intent (could want a writing assistant), but very high match. ClearPost is the autopilot version of what they're searching for.

**Competitive landscape is favorable:**
- Our direct competitors are BotWriter (3K installs, 16 reviews) and Soro (9K installs, 2 reviews)
- NOT Yoast (10M), Rank Math (4M), or AI Engine (100K)
- In the pools we're targeting, the #1 result typically has <10K installs and <20 reviews
- We can compete with 2 reviews and strong listing copy if we appear in these results

WP.org allows 5 tags. Tags are the primary ranking signal for WP.org internal search.

## Open Question: Why aren't we ranking for "autoblogger"?

We have the tag in git. There are only 7 results in WP.org search. We should be visible. Probable cause: tag hasn't been SVN-pushed yet. Should resolve after Phase 1. If it doesn't, investigate WP.org search ranking algorithm (likely weights installs and reviews even in tiny pools).
